Focusing

This week was the last week of vacations for people so hopefully we will have more success.  We had 30 planned lessons and only 2 that happened.  So we need to call people 3 times a day to verify citas.  But a member gave us some books for studying the scriptures and I really enjoy study time.  1 hour just isn' t enough anymore.  I used to think that it was hard to read for 10 minutes.  But I have been in Chile for a little more than a month now.  It is weird because I still feel pretty new but I can get around and understand how things work.  I just need to practice Spanish more.  which is hard when people don' t want to talk to the gringos that want to baptize you.

Funny thing here.  I know of probably 30 places that sell fresh bread and every day it is new.  People buy it new and eat it all the time.  It is super good so I understand.  I will need to learn how to make it for later in my life.  But it does go bad in a couple days so you can't keep it very long.

We are going to focus on 3 people this week who are close to baptism.  We are going to call every day and have lessons as often as possible.  We need to focus is we are going to accomplish anything.  We had to leave a few people because they can't progress or haven't been.  Hopefully in the future, they can change things or stay good people to accept it later.  There are a lot of people who are ready but they live with someone that they aren't married to which means we can't do anything but wait.

3 nefi 18:24    raise your light up to shine on the earth.  and I (Jesus) am the light that you should raise.
I don't know of a time where Jesus said something that wasn't thought-provoking but I would recommend reading 3 nephi 11 and hopefully you just have to desire to read the following chapters.  He is the light and the life of the earth.  and only through him will we get to live as families for all eternity in happiness.  Chaó, les amo

Fast Week

This week was pretty quick.  I feel like I can understand people better and I am becoming more accustomed to things here.  We are in a mall right now using their computers and later we go to a store inside the mall that is basically a small Smiths.  Last week I ate yogurt, granola, protein milk which was really good.  This week I think I am going to get eggs, a loaf of bread, protein milk, and some tomatoes.  But we have 4 people with a baptism date and they are learning fast and almost ready.  We have a few more we can invite the next time we meet as well.  It is super awesome.  The companionships here have an old phone with the 12 buttons that we use to keep in touch with the people, report numbers to leaders, and set up times for things which is really nice.  This week I have been more interested in studying the creation, 2nd-coming, Millenium, afterlife, etc.  It is really cool to see all the information there is in the scriptures that I haven`t paid much attention to before.  We set lots of goals here.  Every day, week, month, and any others we want as personal goals.  Definitely helps to make sure we are working hard.  But other than that not too much is new.  Still hot, understanding when other people are talking a lot better, talking with lots of people.  We were able to contact 34 people yesterday in about an hour and a half at the farmers market that is every Sunday.  Going well here.

D&C 29:34-35  The Lord doesn't give commandments that are temporal. Only spiritual.  He knows what will bring freedom and happiness.  That is why we have commandments.  Parents know that kids shouldn't be wandering off alone but kids don't know why.  If we trust that God knows way more than we can now then we can understand the security that comes from following the commandments

Getting Settled

This week had its ups and downs. It has been hotter than usual here and I have heard that the US is colder than usual in some areas. I am getting very tan. There are hard days when all of your dates fall through and people don't want to listen too much. But I have more of a desire to talk to people now and it is getting easier to understand people. I still need to increase my vocabulary and be able to conjugate quickly. There are random grape vines here that are nice. It would be almost perfect if they didn't have seeds. But you know. I invited someone to baptism the other day. She was someone that we contacted so it is good to see the progression. We had two blessings of health this week that we did for a young boy and a hermana. It is weird to do in Spanish. The other day my legs were so tired. It usually isn't bad but we walked a lot that day.

Today we had completos(hotdogs with tomatoes, avocado, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pico) super good. It was nearly a foot long and only 1000 pesos. A little less than a dollar and a half. After this, we are going to get food for the week and I am going to search for the best breakfasts that are filling and cheap, and maybe slightly healthy. Also, Matè is really good. It is kind of like tea you drink through a straw with little slits and it is a good thing if you are just studying or something. But life goes on. I am enjoying it more. Think warm thoughts.

Mosiah 4:9 Believe in God, believe that he exists, and created all things in the heavens and earth; believe that he has all wisdom and power, even in the heavens and in the earth; believe that man cannot comprehend all the things the Lord can comprehend. (or something like that)

But God knows what is best for us and has a plan of happiness. The commandments are how we have the most joy possible and can enjoy the good things in life. It is hard. Just move forward a little bit. Never stop the effort
